Laffan, I don't know if you're still looking for a tapeless option, but I have a MRC1K (mint condition) for sale.

I have used it with my tape camera (Sony FX1) for 3 years now. Works flawlessly.
I'm selling becasue I recently moved to totally tapeless cameras (Sony NX5U).

Re: Sony HVR-MRC1

I had used mine a couple of times with my HV30. Also tested it with an old Sony TVR900.

Only "problem" is that you won't be able to sync the camera and MRC to get the simultaneous tape recording, but hitting record on the MRC will get you rolling without issue so long as there's firewire and a HDV/DV signal.

The MRC1 and A1 do sync.

Re: Sony HVR-MRC1

And I just got a used MRC1, for my FX1, but also coupled it with my HV-20. By hitting camera link and being sure it is linked, I can start the HV20 recording to tape, and it will automatically start the recorder. Not sure why it would be different with the HV30 and therefore not sure what Kevin's issue is, but perhaps he didn't engage camera link.

Do you still have the Sony MRC1K for sale?
