Canon EOS 5D Mark II... hint at the 4th generation XL?
As most of you might have heard, Canon announced the EOS 5D successor called the EOS 5D Mark II with a 1080P movie mode... It shoots 1080P footage with 30fps (fixed for now) for up to 12 minutes to CF cards. Now that's nice. Of course it does not have XLR inputs and all the controls us filmmakers desire. But one can imagine where the industry is going. The EOS 5D Mark II has extreme light sensitivity. I reckon that this camera has up to 5 stops advantage to the Canon XL-H1. Now who would not like that?
A sample movie will be posted at this site later on tonight: Vincent Laforet’s Blog I hope that the next XL has all of the above in a filmmaker friendly body. Full-frame CMOS censor, up to 128.000 ISO sensivity and compatibility with the EOS lens line-up. Interesting times up ahead people! |
