New CompactFlash Based HD recorder
Hi all,
Just thought you guys with an XL H1 might like the look of this. http://www.convergent-design.com/index.html Looks pretty sweet to me, only wish they would bring out the same sort of thing for my XH A1. Oh well, i can only hope. Bryce

The only thing I don't like about this device is the price, $5,000 is a lot of money. If Canon releases a tapeless XL-H1 later this year or early next year, you could probably buy a body only for $7,000. That's keeping me from buying this device. Although of course it can do 4:2:2 at different bitrates so you can't compare those two situation (unless Canon goes 4:2:2 with the XL-H2). I just can't justify the price, and I think Canon has implemented HDV pretty well. Nick Hiltgen's The Signal was shot in HDV on tape. But definitely a nicer product which I would have bought it was 50% cheaper.

Wow! i didn't see that. That's another XH A1 & a half! Funny thing is, i'm sure i read somewhere else in the specs or something that it was a very cost effective solution. Go figure!
