DOF Adapter
May or not be the right place to post this...
Is there currently a dof adapter that goes right to the lens mount? The P+S does right? Is that it? I would like to buy a ~$1k option, which I assume the ps is not, so must I attach to the lens?? Thanks |

letus makes one with a flip. the others go on the end of the lens. the letus one is around the pricepoint you're looking for.

But would it be worth it for me to flip? the EVF will handle that, and I would assume there is added light loss, as well as expense

I don't know of one that uses a relay lens that doesn't have the flip built in. The others without the flip attach to the lens giving you a small bazooka look. Letus might have one without the flip built in, but I don't know what the price difference would be.

Letus doesn't have any adapter with relay lens for the moment.

Shane,
I recently contacted Cinevate, and they told me that they were in the process of creating an XL flipped relay lens for its Brevis 35mm adapter. It's not confirmed yet, but the relay is planned to be released somewhere around august '08. They told me pricepoint would be around 1,800-2,000 bucks, but I don't know if it's just the relay lens' price or if it includes the Brevis 35mm adapter. You can always contact Cinevate via email or phone, they'll probably confirm you that, and it might help push their dev team to get the relay lens done sooner! :-) I personnally can't wait for something more professionnal than the LetusXL to come on the market at a price point lower than what P+S technik offers. I love my LetusXL, mind you, but I really don't like the 1,9x form factor my Nikon lenses get on it, and I wouldn't mind light-loss to go under 1f-stop since I use an XL2! Let us know what Cinevate say if you contact them! Gabe Fotonik Films |

Have been in contact with Letus. They say they will have a relaylens for XL H1 in april or early may.
