(How) Do you use custom presets?
I was wondering how many of you do use the Custom Presets? Do you use them always or only in certain situations? I like the natural look of the Canon XL-H1 (Factory default) but I think there is too much magenta. But I also see too much magenta in Steven Dempsey's Panalook custom preset. I think from all the presets, I like the Kodak filmstock emulation best.
But I am now doing some advanced testing with my camera in a studio environment. I am matching my lightmeter and camera so I can use my lightmeter to access a scene. I also hooked it up to Canon Console for use with the waveform monitor so check exposure/overall brightness. The thing is that custom presets have influence on the images (light/shadows) so I need to stick to one preset to keep things matched. So should I stick with factory default or use one of the presets? The preset should be easy to work with in post so I guess a natural colored preset. |

Floris /
After one year of non stop shooting / I have decided to stick to Alistar Chapmans presets CP 1 general prefered setup & CP 4 Extra Latitude. I think Alistar did a great job with the 2 x prests. I never use the factory default preset / Tendancy to blow out the highlights. |
