What happened to f/16?

Just shot my first HD video and was surprised by the lens not going to f16....any reason why they didn't go to it?

Every camera I've used for the last 20 years had f16 aperture....

Thanks
Tony B.

It closes after f/9.5 in order to avoid diffraction issues common to very small f/stops.
