Gold mount on XL2

Was looking at the gold mount on b&h...what if I don't want to power the camera off the AB brick...just the light? It looks like there's a power connector for the camera that comes out of the gold mount. What happens to it? Thanks.

Hey Jonathan,
You can do what I did before buying the Anton Bauer power adapter for my XL2. I had a XL1 and I used

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...t_Battery.html

that I double (industrial) sticker tape to the bracket that came with the XL1 and the XL2 comes with it also. Then you can just use the power tap and not pay for the power adapter with cable attached. The tape held the bracket with Trimpac Digital 14's on them for 5 years with no problem.

The bracket above is only I think $90

Hope that helps

That's right, Jonathan. You could simply leave the cable unplugged and put the regular Canon battery in its place to power the camera. The connector is just like the AC adapter piece that goes into the battery tray.

And yes, there's a D-Tap power connector on top of the AB Gold Mount you could plug a compatible light into.

Thanks for the replies, guys.

Turns out I am just letting it hang there (so to speak) as a back-up to my BP-90s.
