NTSC XL2 capture PAL tapes?
Can a XL2 that was purchased in the USA properly capture PAL miniDV tapes if the capture software (Premier Pro 2.0) is set to the proper PAL timeline?

It is the camera not the tapes that are PAL or NTSC. There is no such thing as 'PAL' DV tapes. Your NTSC version XL2 will not capture in PAL, and an XL2 PAL version body will not capture in NTSC. Only the HDV version XL-H1 has the option to capture in both NTSC & PAL.

Tony:
I hoped that since I am not trying to capture the images, i.e., record PAL with a NTSC camera. I was hoping that a NTSC camera could spit out the data from a PAL tape that was already recorded on a PAL camera. Devon

I'm not sure about that one - I take it that you mean placing a DV tape that has already got PAL DV footage on it, in an XL2 NTSC camera body and then downloading it via the firewire to you computer? I somehow doubt if it will work, but I've not tried it, so maybe you could give it a go and let us all know what happens...
