Can I convert XL2 16:9 SD footage to HD?

Brian: could you post a few seconds of your uprezzed XL2 footage, preferably something with some fine detail in it? Have you tried comparing that to footage of the same scene from the XL-H1?

so does anybody know what kinda voodoo they did to the footage shot with the XL1?? on the movie 28 DAYS. how did they blow that up and still maintain a sharp image. Is this process for film out any different than going to HD? Or the movie OPEN WATER for that matter, shot using PD-150.
