XL2 extensive settings EXPLAINED ...?
I've been meaning to ask this for some time as i have yet to find a single source from which to learn the settings of the XL2
Is there a place that goes through every little aspect of the XL2 and explains what each function/option does? The manual doesn't count. It just tells you how to use that particular function, not what it does. This forum... well i know there's an explanation for everything but it's spread out among a thousand threads (slight exaggeration, i know i know). Maybe something like a sticky thread or a website that covers all the menu features of the XL2 and what each option does? The sheer depth of the camera and the fact that you don't always see a result from messing with a single option makes this a daunting task without a centralized source of knowledge. Does this make sense? Thanks! Raji |

The XL2 feature tour video from DVCREATORS.NET is a good source. Canon's own website also has a page that explains the features much better than the manual does.
Links to both of those sources have been posted in this forum(XL2). You should be able to search back and find them in threads that have a title similar to yours as this question does come up a lot. -gb- |

dv tour
Raji,
have you been to the canon xl2 feature tour? http://www.dvcreators.net/media/demo...aturetour.html If I did not get the address right just dvcreators. this will help a lot.\\ to be honest just staying in contact with this list has helped me so much it is a joke. down load the blubarn program and the presets, then go out and test them out. you will learn more like that than anything is my guess

Hi Raji. One tip is to connect the cam to a TV monitor while you play around with the various settings. This gives you a much better chance to see what difference each parameter makes when you adjust it. The small EVF is not so useful in this regard (to put it kindly).

The link to Canon's own website explaining the features of each feature in detail is http://www.usa.canon.com/app/html/XL..._control.shtml Rich is correct. Because of the low resolution of the XL2 viewfinder, you should use a monitor to see the differences in your images. You should also watch the dvcreators XL2 feature tour. Hope this help. Eb |
