Capturing Problems at DVinfo.net

I've been having problems from day one getting Avid to recognize my XL2. I have version 5.0 which has a preset for the XL2, but it still doesn't recognize it. If I do an auto-config for the deck, it shows up as no deck (not even a generic DV device) being attached.

At first I thought it was just Avid being picky, but last night I installed DV-PC Recorder and sure enough it says "Camera not connected" when I run it.

At this point I'd guess something is wrong with my firewire connection, but whenever I connect my camera to my PC Windows pops up with Movie Maker and I can capture just fine using that. It even recognizes my camera as a "Canon Device". So I know the connection is fine.

Anyone have any ideas about what I might be doing wrong?
