xl2 and cgi
I wanted to try out some cg work with my xl2, so I started this mock alien film with my little sister. I used the 16x manual lens for the first time as well. I created a custom preset to suit my needs, and ended up turning the sharpness a little too high (a lot of my stuff comes out unfocused so I thought that this would alleviate that problem some).
Here are some results: http://static.flickr.com/51/136611669_8fdc144a20_o.jpg I love the 16x manual lens!: http://static.flickr.com/55/136611670_0c787e3e51_o.jpg I will obviously replace the gloves: http://static.flickr.com/46/136611671_f9f2a939a6_o.jpg This is a somewhat finished shot… I am still working on the cg dof. It looks a lot better than I expected in motion: http://static.flickr.com/56/136611672_d80e6fb8b5_o.jpg Does anyone else here do any 3d rendering or compositing? |

nice jeff!
i do a fair amount of 3d and compositing work, primarily for advertising, using 3ds max and after effects. if it's possible, i would love to check out some of the footage from your project. may i ask what 3d and compositing applications you're using? |

My school had one mac with a copy of lightwave 8, and no one knew how to use it. I played around with it for a few months, learning by basis of trial and error. I have tried Maya but once, and I really liked it; it seemed to be designed more for artists and less for engineers.
At this point my compositing skills are limited, and I do nothing outside of lightwave or Vegas. This stuff isn't nearly as inaccessible as I thought it would be, though. I will throw some finished shots together in the near future. |
