When & how to use coring?
I really enjoy the image control on the XL2 and have always been a tinkerer. However, I am a bit stuck on the coring - the effect seems so subtle i have no idea what to settle on.
Please can anybody help me understand its usage? |

You wont notice much effect at all unless you are in a position where you need it. It is a MICROFINE noise detail setting. Lets say you are shooting someone with a funky tight pattern on their suit, the "detail" will look more like noise. If you turn uo the coring it will soften the image just enough to eliminate that detail noise.

Imperceptible coring
Thanx Ash - that is very helpful. I spent so long scrutinising over it but will now leave it at centre until the occasion arrises for me to pay attention to finer detail. :-)
