XL2 Auto Focus making humming noise

Hello XL2 fans:

My XL2 20x Lens is making loud humming noises when at the far end of the zoom,(sounds like a faint jack hammer) when I turn off auto focus it goes away. I never really noticed the noise until now. Is this normal for the autofocus to be so noisy or should I send it in for repair. I have a 5 year warranty with mack - Purchased 10 months ago thru B&H Photo.

Thanks in advance :)

Sincerely,

Ty

No, a loud humming noise is not normal. Sometimes a slight ticking sound can be heard when I operate handheld, but no loud humming noises. Best to obtain warranty service asap.

Yep, send it in right away. Sounds like the gear has gone, or is going past its limit and running out of track to go on. Like a limiter switch has failed.

If it is only 10 months old, it should still be under the factory time limit, so that would be better and faster too.

Sorry man,

Mike
