Lens Protection

I am going to be purchasing (FINALLY!) the xl2 with the 20x lens and was wondering if anyone uses a clear glass, no effect, filter over the end of the lens to protect the actual lens surface from damage. If anyone is using this type of filter what kind would you suggest that works well and isnt too expensive. any help is much appreciated.

Usually most people slap on a UV filter as a lens protector, at least that's what I do, man.
