Mic on XLR + stereo mic at DVinfo.net

Have been trying have a combination of both mics to work at the same time but to no avail. Have miss out on something with setup? Hope to do interview with an uni-directional mic on the XLR and wanting the background sound from the stereo mic.
I have tried many combinations but only can work with 1 at a time and not both.
