Re: XL2 Service manual?
Ok, I guess I'm completely blind because I can't find anything about the Service Manual. Your link takes me to the Canon website where the operators manual is located. I also see a link to the operators manual in the Sticky section. Could you please point me to the link for the Service Manual. Sorry my search skills are so lacking.

Re: XL2 Service manual?
Doubt you're going to have much luck.
Canon DO NOT (publicly) publish service manuals for any of their gear, though there have been rumours of the odd one somehow "slipping off" their servers, usually in a language not conducive to easy use. CS |

LeVan, my apologies for not reading your first post carefully enough. You are quite correct, no link here will take you to the Service manual for that camera.

Re: XL2 Service manual?
I've been looking around on Google for a service manual with no luck. I've got a back focus issue with one of my XL2's and I'm hoping that with a service manual I can fix it without having to send it in to Canon.

Re: XL2 Service manual?
Hey, LeVan...I have a PDF of the XL2 owners' manual...downloaded it a while ago. PM me and I'll send it to you.
Cheers! Terry

Re: XL2 Service manual?
Sorry, LeVan...I jumped the gun. You're looking for a SERVICE manual; not an owners' manual. I don't have one of those. My bad! Good luck with your search. I can also tell you that if you do have a back focus problem with the lens, the service center is the way to go.

Re: XL2 Service manual?
Going back a few years it was possible to buy a hard copy service manual from Canon Parts, they ran on the order of $50 or so. Then when the GL1 came out Canon changed policy - end users had to pass through a gate keeper and sign a warranty waiver in order to buy one. The issue being end users really had no business inside the camcorder - most would likely only mess things up if not a well qualified technician with a decent bench of tools and test/service gear.
With that in mind, you could call Canon parts and see what the current policy is. I've seen partial manuals for machines like the HV20 available for download on line. Usually related to some user mod. A web search may turn something up. In any case I would be reluctant to open any machine that is still under warranty, and recognize that anything i did might increase ultimate repair cost.

Re: XL2 Service manual?
Ain't no manual and I can't vouch for it's accuracy, but is this any help?
