You've used the Aspheron? Excellent, and welcome to the club. As you rightly point out, very hard to find and expensive. Even more so if you buy new from Switzerland (which I didn't do).

Interestingly Sony's Z1 has a three stage OIS, one specifically designed for wide-angle converter usage. It's a 'softer' version of the standard stabilisation setting for the very reasons you love the 3x - in that less stabilisation is generally needed at short focal lengths. You still shake the camera just as much of course (which is why I want OIS) but it's generally less visible on screen.
