Sony DSR 25 dub setup
I always dump my footage to a VHS with timecode burn for reference.
When I shoot in 16x9 mode on the XL2, the image is squashed when I transfer it from the Sony DSR 25 to my VCR. Is there a way to have the footage letterboxed instead of squashed on the VHS tape? I see in the XL2 manual (p.46) that "if you connect the camcorder to a TV with an S (S1) terminal or Video ID-1 system, recordings made in the 16x9 mode will automatically be played back in widescreen." What's a S (S1) or Video ID-1 system, and can it be used with the Sony deck instead of the camera? (I want to avoid using my camera as a deck:) ) thanks!
