Filming LCD displays
Hi There
Can anyone give me some advice on the best way to film an LCD display. I will be using the Apple 23" studio display and a 15" G4 laptop. When I previously tried this the results have not looked that great. |

Hi Eric. What problems were you getting? If you try to shoot the whole screen and show the details of what is displayed, you will run into the problem that the resolution of DV is not high enough to capture the fine details of a computer monitor.
If you can set the monitor to a low resolution (like 640x480) then you should get better results, but I am not familiar with macs so don't know if that is feasible. If you have to shoot high res graphics with a DV camera and need to actually show the details, the only way I can think of is to zoom in and show just part of the screen at a time. I've done this before and it worked great, but it has to fit with what you are trying to accomplish. Richard |
