Telephoto lens problem
Hi,
I just got my XL2 in the mail, and with it I ordered a Digital Optics wide-angle lens and telephoto lens, and the wide-angle lens came with a second little lens in a bag that I attach to the camera, and then attach the wide-angle lens to that, and when I attach it to my normal 20x zoom lens it works fine, but when I try to put the telephoto lens on (which didn't come with an attachment lens) there's a black ring around the image (I can see the edge of the lens). I tried hooking it up to the attachment lens that came with the wide-angle lens, but I'm getting the same results. Am I doing something wrong, or am I missing something? Thanks. |

Hi Joe,
I'm not familiar with the brand Digi-Optics, but most likely the telephoto attachment is effective only when the 20x lens is zoomed in more than halfway. In other words, you have to zoom in past the black ring you're seeing. Most low-end telephoto converters are not "zoom through," meaning, you can expect to see the the inside of the 20x lens barrel (the black ring) when you're zoomed out wide. Simply zoom in past it and you'll be fine. Of course this isn't as good as having full zoom-through capability, but most tele converters don't have it anyway. In others words, you got what you paid for. It may be limited, but it'll work with the the telephoto half of the 20x zoom range. Hope this helps, |
