I'm not clear on what you just said, but it appears that you used two different brands of tape without using a head cleaner in between. If that's the case, then your problem is most likely head clog, rather than misalignment. Canon cameras are unusually susceptible to getting clogged up anytime you switch tape brands. It's best to stick with one brand, but if you must switch, always use a head cleaning tape when you do, and always use it exactly according to the instructions. Excessive use can cause trouble.

Hi bill. I had no problems (by now)...with my Xl2...I just told what I , checked the panasonic cassettes with any kind of camera and was always very good...Specially with Canon brand

My story.
Recorded a wedding with an XL1-s. Captured those tapes with a brand new XM-2 (GL-2). Got one hell of a scare when I saw my beautifull footage full of random mosaic. Recaptured the tapes with the XL1-s. Relief... The tapes where OK!
So, like said here before, you can get into trouble even with cameras from the same brand. Talked to the people who sold me the XM-2 (GL-2) and they trade it for another one. With this one I can capture XL1-s recorded tapes with no problem. Best regards, Arnaldo |
