Horizontal pixel shift is a physical half pixel shift and allows higher resolution (or less aliasing for the same resolution). Vertical pixel shift allows pseudo progressive scan and is only a read-out shift. Adds some vertical resolution as compared to line doubling or line interpolation.

The XL1 used vertical pixel shift for frame mode and for the digital zoom effect.
