XL2 Wasn't Recording?
Hello All - Newbie Here,
Say I had to send in my XL2 for head cleaning, some parts replacements, etc., for the $400 fee. When the machine came home I "taped" several events ignoring the set time and date warning (since I don't much care and know when things occurred and were shot). Upon reviewing the tape weeks later I see that though the tape was "advancing" and everything appeared as usual while taping - nothing was recorded. I have since set the time and date and things are working fine. My question is - dose the unit not record unless the time/date is set or do I have other issues that need to be looked into (like despite paying the $400 the machine is not working as it should and it's only a matter of time until again I think I am recording but get nothing upon review). Thanks in advance! - Kevin |

Hmmm
I either posted a really dumb question or it's so odd/unusual that no one can offer any ideas or advice. Either way I'm in trouble.

Didn't you kind of answer your own question? You set the time/date and it worked again.
If the XL2 is recording again, just go ahead and use it, but in the meantime, call Canon again and alert them to the problem shortly after coming back from their service, just so you'll be on record. Make sure they note it on your records. |
