I managed to end up with this:

after doing noise reduction in stages, plus doing a low pass filter (butterworth), plus using the Parametric equlalizer and finally the Graphic equalizer in Audition.

Still far too high peaks on the "S"s at the beginning of sentances for my ears, Adrian.
