Battery for on-camera light

Is Anton Bauer or IDX really my only option? I know you have to pay for quality, but man, that stuff is really expensive. I'm thinking about getting one of the tiny Bescor batteries, hacking off the shoulder strap, and just velcroing the thing to the bracket mount. Are there any slightly more elegant solutions? My light has an XLR connector.
