XL2 + Adobe OnLocation?
I was playing around with the XL2 and the trial of Adobe OnLocation, and when the XL2 is switched to "External Control" it switches to 4:3 automatically. Even when I select "16:9 Field Monitor" from the devices, it's giving me a 4:3 image stretched to 16x9. The XL2 view finder switches to 4:3 also. I can't find a setting in OnLocation to change it to 16:9, and it disregards the switch completely. I can still change it to another shooting mode, but then I lose the ability to adjust exposure and other settings with the OnLocation interface.
Does anyone know if I'm just doing something wrong? Thanks! JR |

I haven't used OnLocation too much yet, but you can just use it in regular camera and VCR modes, as opposed to External Control. Then it will send 16:9 if you're trying to record 16:9 and 4:3 if that's what you're trying to shoot. :)
You'll need to change the monitor you're using in OnLocation to either a 16:9 or a 4:3 to look right, but otherwise there's really nothing to it. The camera will send record start/stop to the computer, and the computer should do the same back to the camera, so you can press any of the record buttons anywhere and both devices will start and stop together. It's a good idea to run a tape as a backup recorder, but otherwise there's really nothing special you have to do to make this work. Eric |
