More audio frustration
I am shooting this morning in the south loop on Dearborn between Harrison and Polk, plug in the headphones and there is a loud rushing/whooshing sound in the headphones. The audio is set to automatic and the noise is pretty loud, on manual audio i can turn it down. I am using a rented Sennheiser so I switch to the camera mic and it is still there. I unplug the XLR mic and the sound is still there. It sounds like rushing traffic or big trees blowing in the wind, except there aren't any of those nearby. I take the camera over to my buddy on the west side and the noise is gone but when we play back the earlier tape on the LCD you can clearly hear the sound.
Is this an indication that the camera is poorly shielded? roger |

Maybe its just the headphone preamp. Is the noise still there once the video is captured and you listen to it on your computer?

Is this Chicago again? Is there a high power radio or TV transmitter near-by?
