Can't get sound when playing back on HDTV

Hey guys.... I have an A1 and like to playback my footage from the camera hooked up to my 55" plasma TV. I use the HD Component cable and also the Left and Right Audio cables to hook it up to the TV. However, for the life of me, I can't get the audio to work on playback. The audio plays fine within the camera (like when you playback with LCD open), but the TV (sound system) won't play it.

I have tried every setting with my sound system/tv setup with no luck. I just can't seem to figure this out. Do I need to set something from within my A1's menu to allow the audio to playback on the TV? I looked in the manual and it seems I am doing everything right, so I am not sure where the problem may exist.

Any ideas, help or guidance would be so appreciated. (BTW.. My audio was recorded from the XLR input using a shotgun mic... if that makes any difference in how the audio is sent out of the camera... I have tried all the XLR channel outputs, etc... no luck). Thanks for any help.

I have an HV20

On my HV20 I have to change a setting that forces audio out the AV connection. It is either AV out or Headphone out. If I choose Headphone out and plug my cable into the jack and than into any audio in on the TV or whatever audio arrangement you have setup it should work If I don't change my setting and leave it at AV than since the jack is trying to send composite video out along with the audio it gives you a loud hum unless you tweak your stereo jack a little.

Maybe this will help. I don't know. The component out though definitely only caries video & no audio. Just to eleminate the possibility of a defective cable, try another one or try plugging a headset into the camcorder AV out jack.

Do you have that little composite out switch set for A1, not A2 at the back?
