XHA1 + CONSOLE + After Effects = problems

Hey everyone. I'm hoping someone here has noticed this problem and figured out a way to fix it.

Here's the deal, I have a bunch of footage captured via the Canon CONSOLE software into .mpeg files. Now, these files preview fine when I watch them in a stand alone player like VLC or Media Player Classic. They look great and the audio is perfect.

The problem I am running into is when exporting them from After Effects 7.0 (on PC). No matter what format I export to, WMV, MOV, MPEG, AVI, I get this weird audio glitch about 2 seconds in. It's as if the audio jumps back a fraction of a second then continues playing. Of course because of this hiccup, the rest of the audio is out of sync for the remainder of the video.

This happens in every single file I captured via CONSOLE. It doesn't matter how I trim the video, there is always a glitch right around 2 seconds upon export from After Effects. I re-installed After Effects thinking something was messed up there but even with a fresh install, I'm still getting this audio problem.

I uploaded one of my test files here so you can see (and hear) what I'm talking about: http://360ideas.com/temp/

Ignore the shabby quality, this is a VERY rough work file. I didn't want to spend too much time getting everything perfect if I can't export.

Of course I can always export video only and multiplex the audio in later but I'd like to avoid extra steps as I fully expect a program I payed hard earned money for to work as expected.

I've found that AE does NOT handle mpeg footage very smoothly. I suspect that the synch problems are associated with the GOPs "ramping up".

Maybe try to convert it to something else that has I-frames (Cineform, HuffyUV, etc.) prior to working with AE and check kit again.
