Interlaced component sig on prog lcd?....

alright guys, I've got another noobish question that i can't seem to find the answer for.... In the A1 menu where you can select the cam's playback output signal, under component it lists 1080i/480i and says nothing about 1080p. So if I want to play the tape back from my cam on an lcd computer monitor through the component cable and i'm playing back 24p footage who's signal is progressive will it work? LCDs are progressive and originating signal is progressive but cam implies it can only throughput an interlaced signal through components, why is this?
