Firewire control/capture problems with A1
I had an XH A1 not be recognized over firewire.
The same thing happened with a replacement XH A1 camera. What made both cameras work in capture tests was to turn off my firewire audio interface. I suspect something may need to be updated with the XH A1's firewire interface because this doesn't happen with my Panasonic DVX100 on the exact same system. The only change is the camera. Because I've now seen two XH A1 cameras show the problem, it may be happening on other Canon cameras. I reported it to Canon. Meanwhile I will have to turn off the audio interface when capturing via firewire using the XH A1. Workarounds are not ideal but it's better than no communication with the camera. What would help to know is this: Has anyone else had capture problems with the XH A1 over firewire (on any system)? If so, can you make it work by turning off other equipment connected via firewire on the same computer? Best Regards, -Jamie www.JamieKrutz.com PS. I am reposting about this because my first post was shunted off to an editing group (probably because of how I titled the thread), but this is really about Canon XH A1 firewire behavior. |

With any issues involving FireWire, what counts is what's at the other end of the cable.
That's why capture issues belong in their respective NLE forums... in this case Final Cut Pro. Please direct any replies to the original version of this topic, located in our Mac editing / Final Cut Pro board at http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=84652 |
