Faulty HDV/DV out port XH A1
Hey,
I am so happy with my XH A1...but there is one glitch. My firewire connection is really spotty. When plugged in it will flash HDV/DV In on and off (not at regular intervals..just kind of flicker) until I press against the cable slightly sideways. I've found a way to prop it in using the cover to the inputs so that I can capture - but this is a hacked solution. I called customer service and there only suggestion was to send it in... Has anyone else had this problem or know of a fix (other than costly/risky/time consuming shipping to service)? Other than that, great camera! Thanks! - Jim (http://www.jim-george.com/) |

I'm asking the obvious here... did you try another firewire cable?

cable
Yeah! I suppose I should have specified troubleshooting techniques. I tried it with one I had that had worked before on a little sony camera. When I had problems I went out and bought a brand new one and it experienced the exact same sympton, so I don't believe the cable is the issue.

Jim, you'll have to send the camera down to Canon Service in Irvine, CA. That's the only way to fix it.
