Use an SD card reader, available for less than $20 anywhere flash memory cards are sold. It connects to your computer via USB.

There are dozens of different card readers... I've got three of 'em laying around the house: see attached photo. The Targus one is handy because it's a dual-slot Compact Flash and Secure Digital card reader (but it's only USB 1, pretty slow).

Loading Photos
This seems like a dumb question but how do I load photos onto my computer(iMac). I can't find anything in the manual. Do I have to buy extra software to load photos.
Thankyou |

No extra software required... all you need is an SD card reader. For more info, see http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=84074 for more details.

photo download from A1?
has anyone done this? I can get my PC to recognize the A1's attached, but can't figure out how to get to the SD (secure digital) card to get the photos from it.
when I leave the card/tape switch on tape, I see the camera icon on the set of drives I have attached, and assume I could capture a tape from there. but when I flip the switch to card, the firewire connection drops, then re-adds, but no icon comes back, and my standard cannon photo capture apps, for example, can't see the card. is there anything I'm missing that someone else has figured out? It must be something simple / obvious that I'm just overlooking as this shouldn't be that difficult.. |

I only know & have tried the simpliest way: get yourself a card reader.

I'm not sure if we need to make this a "sticky," since the question is so frequently asked. Merging a number of separate posts into this one thread.

thanks for the replies & sorry for any double post, I did search.. I was hoping to avoid another card reader..not for any real reason other then another $20 that I could use for something else, esp. since the A1 has firewire (and I just bought a CF reader but didn't think too much about it..could have gotten a multi I suppose..oh well..thanks for the replies!, just wanted to make sure there's nothing I was missing.
