Preset Footage, adapting (Panalook)

I intend on Posting footage here... But what is the best format to save a two minute sequence that balances between quality and downloadability?

I will upload it to my server and provide a link.

I am looking for the advice of others until the preset is tweaked before adding it to any of the preset threads.

I am using FCP and a bit of a beginner...

I will re-edit this post so it is usful to others later on.

Thanks,
Jay

XHA1 vs XLH1

The format of the m2t file is A1, the latter is H1.

the file is located here;

Christmas Jeepin'

I think the AF works pretty darn well with the A1. This is 24F AF at near full telephoto, handheld.

It was intentionally shot a little neutral. I recommend adding a little contrast and saturation in VLC player under "extended controls".

Nice shot...

Looks great! Almost don't need the 35mm adapter if you can shoot with the longer focal length.

Christmas A1 25f footage

I have made a short Christmas clip with my A1 in low light condition. Seems the lens and 3CCDs did great job.

Here is the file (95MB): http://rapidshare.com/files/9781054/..._2006.wmv.html

Parameters:
Mode: 25f
Shutter: 1/25
Gain: 0db
Preset: Alister Chapman's prefered general setup

Happy New Year!

Riverside A1 25f footage

Here is my second A1 clip. I have filmed it on Danube riverside.

You are able to download from here (65 MB): http://rapidshare.com/files/11085551..._Part.wmv.html

Cam's settings:

Mode: 25f
Shutter: 1/50 and 1/25
Gain: 0db
ND: 2
Focus: Manual
Preset: Alister Chapman's

I really love this camera. I am using Aspect HD for post production. I have added Unsharp Mask in Premiere (I have noticed that Cineform codec produce a bit unsharp result compared to original M2T file).

I have noticed a small bug in Premiere: When I apply both Unsharp Mask and Speed 50% on a clip and there are some cross dissolve transition between clips, the final rendred film have white frames where the cross transition starts and ends. So I had to remove the unsharp mask from slow speed clips...

Best Regards,
Gabor

Sample full Zoom from swamp under flight path

Greetings all, unless you have bandwidth to burn don't download.(About 115Mb)

First post.

What I learnt day one with the XH-AI.

Don't ignore the ND filter prompt.
The LCD takes a bit of getting used to for focus (Note to self: Read up on peaking)
The standard mike is way better than my XL1, but under the flight path to to Kingsford Smith Airport isn't ideal for capturing sondtrack.
Ripples in water can look wierd like fast motion if you don't get it right.
It's hard to find a file host that doesn't annoy more than assist.
Compressing HDV is a lot harder than it seems.

New film productions??

Hi…..I’ve seen some fantastic clips on this forum from the XH A1 which have totally sold me on buying this camera. My main interest in this cam is for making independent films…..

My question is: Is there a list of new productions using the Canon for new films, i.e. Blair Witch...Open Water, November, as there was for the DVX100 & the HVX200. I’d be very interested to see who’s using this camera for cinematic release…I’m sure there must be many..?? The XHA1 has barely been released in the UK so info like this is non-existent.

I do understand that the camera is new on the scene……...but the question is worth asking.

Thanks in advance

Footage with "NOMAGENTA" setting!

Can someone please post some footage with the NOMAGENTA setting. I would very much like to see what it looks like in use, as this is the setting I would most likely often use. Thank you

First short with A1

I posted this in "Show Your Work", but seeing as how it was filmed with the A1, I thought I should call attention to it in this forum.

Coming from the GL2, I'm amazed at what this camera is capable of. After hooking the raw footage from this video up to an HDTV, I'm really excited about what I'm going to be able to do with this camera.

Which ND filters to get for DOF (open aperture)

Hey guys, I'm relatively new to the A1 and videography as a whole and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations as to which glass ND filters to get for the best DOF shots of subjects doing interviews, etc. Or are the two built-in ND filters good enough? I haven't done that much testing but I am headed out of town where they have a nice camera store and want to pick up some ND glass filters if you think I should have them in addition to the in-camera ones the A1 has.

Looking for any suggestions on the ND strength levels, etc. Thanks!
