My first clip

Hi,

I'm a new XH-A1 owner, and last night I got to go out and video a local jazz group a friend plays in.

This is going to sound strange but the youtube compressed version looks much better. I had problems with focus on the original, and the compression helped that a bit :).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nt_Dju-1Mco

I also did some image tuning in compressor. I really loved the camera preset I used on this one, and white balancing does make a difference!

I'm still learning the camera, and I'm completely new to the whole video thing, but I really had a blast doing it! Anyway, any comments appreciated.

Thanks for watching!

New short made with A1/RedRock M2...

Here's a short I made with a couple of friends. I wanted to do some tests in terms of editing a scene with dialogue. There wasn't as much light as I would have liked, but it was kind of a last minute thing. It was shot on the XHA1 at 1080 with a RedRock M2 35 adapter and a Nikon 50mm lens. Thanks for watching!

Until I can get a high quality version uploaded, YouTube will have to do. Hang in there.

Car show montage

I shot some video at a Hot August Nights Show-n-Shine event.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0dGifbhHAd0

Specifics:
Used a monopod for some shots. Good for crowded events, but not rock-solid. Set the camera on the ground for low angle footage.

Shot at 60i, 1/60, ND filter at 1/32. Used the OUTSIDEN custom preset. With zebras set at 85%, I dialed in the shots to where I had just a little striping on the subject. I think they're still a bit underexposed. With bright sunlight and glossy paint, it was a challenge.

Interview Frame Grabs (Panalook preset)

I was in Rochester yesterday shooting B cam for some interviews. Got some decent shots of people and some other random things.

http://www.revolutionmax.com/frames/frames.html

Using the Panalook preset for the A1 and SD 16x9. I'm a little bummed because I completely spaced having the gain at 6 so there is a bit more grain than there would be otherwise. Still even in SD this thing always suprises me more.

A1+fast zoom+Fluo light footage

I have recently bought a sigma 24-70mm f2.8 (constant) because I thought it could be a practical solution for when I can't take all my lenses. Before I tried it I was a bit afraid how it would work with low light, but after today all my problems vanished. This was shot with 2 small portable "fluo bars" and nothing else. The lens was always at f2.8. I don't really remember which preset I used. All I did on post was to mess with the levels.

Go to withoutabox.com for information on festivals if you already have not. You will find everything you need there. You should be able to find the right festival for your film.

More eclipse footage

This was fun...

I've messed around with different compression methods for YouTube, but I give up. It's still way darker than the original. Any suggestions for better hosting solutions?

Anyway, for the bright shots I used 1/6-ND, 1/60, f9.5. For the dark period I was at 1/4, f3.2. (no ND)

Couple Videos Done with the A1

Hey all!

Finally got my site thrown together and content actually hosted on it. I have a music video and a short film for an old contest up there that I shot on my A1 (as well as a second short music video that was done for fun), if you're interested.

www.rhapsodistproductions.com is the site, check under Portfolio and click either "Confession" or "I Can Feel Free". I Can Feel Free is slightly lower quality because I uploaded my youtube render for that, and I still need to recompress a higher rez version. Let me know if you like them!

Grainy image/Noisy

I just got my A1. Did some low light and natural light tests. More grainy than I thought. Especially in the background. Usually most noticeable when I pause the image on my computer. Any suggestions on tweaking the settings to get a smoother look?

You would probably get more responses had you not posted this in the clips section.
