Mic holder
Any reason why I shouldn't detach the stock external mic holder on the A1? (not the stock mic)
I have a hotshoe shockmount that I use instead. Thanks |

I initially dettached mine, then I decided since I wasn't using it to modify it. I made a signifcantly better shock mount out of it. I cut out prefferations on the rim to allow me to put two rubber bands on it in a criss-cross fashion so I can mount my mic, securely, in it and have a very good shock absorber.
Without this mod, the handling noise was unbearable. Now I feel good about using a shotgun for run and gun stuff, without worries of excess handling noise. I will post some pics and other small mods I have done to the cam very soon. How do I do post pics? |

Holly, look for a "Manage Attachments" button in the Additional Options area which is below the Reply box when you're submitting a post. Looking forward to your pics!

Holly, I'm looking forward to seeing your mods too.
Chris, one of my posting rules is, "You may not post attachments" and was wondering if this is the standard default setting for us newer folks. |
