DV to HDV
Has anybody tried this: play a standard 60i DV tape from a deck into the A1, via firewire, with the A1 recording 24F HDV? In a perfect world it would convert that DV into 24F HDV, but we know it's not a perfectd world. I wonder what would happen, if anything. I can't check it out before an upcoming shoot tomorrow morning, wherein I'd like to start shooting HDV but have a bunch of DVCAM footage to also use in the documentary.

Sorry, there's not a single camcorder on the market that will upconvert DV to HDV.

I figured that, but I just wondered if it would record anything at all.

You can upconvert with an AJA Kona 3 on ingest but not with a Kona Lhe - If it's done in context ie a historical montage, or sub-frame insert, or (gasp) sepia-toned sequence, etc... it might be acceptable from an editorial perspective, but from the qualitative viewpoint I would really avoid upconverting at any cost.
