Ntsc / Pal

Quick question: can the XH-A1 / G1 switch between NTSC & PAL, or must one purchase either one or the other..?
Thx, Ross.

On the Canon XL H1, XH G1 and XH A1 camcorders, either version can be upgraded to include the other. The 60i model can be modified to become 60i/50i switchable, as can the 50i model. The upgrade is performed by a Canon factory service center and cost about $500 USD.

switchable

Chris,
Thx. Do you know whether the switching is done via a menu item, or is it a physical/real switch..?
Thx, Ross.

The upgrade adds a new item to the Signal Setup menu, appearing as a choice of 50i or 60i.

Any idea on the turn around time on this? There are only two in the US, am I right on that? NY and CA?

Your best bet is to call first and inquire about their current turn-around time.
