Unfortunately, G5s are no more.. I have a quad and wanted another one before the "Pro", got online and discovered I've missed the boat... Box stores may still have them (I buy from the Apple Store usually).. but act fast unless you want another year of sorting out growing-pain issues with a new product...

You can always pick up a refurb, Apple's got them here:

http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPL....0.8.7.1.0.1.1

dual and quad G5 currently available but probably wont last too long.

If you are a premiere pro guy such as my self, one way to deal with the export to tape situation is to export the final edited file and than play it back from another software that allows export to tape. It sucks but so far it would be the only way. I hope adobe comes up with a solution for this. I export ALL my projects to tape, dvd, and vcd (for different purposes).

Any idea who/where to ask about Avid 24f support?

What about 25F? Which NLEs are currently supporting that?

I am still eager to find out if Sony Vegas supports the 24F/25F modes.

Floris, strange, that nobody confirmed that before:
Yes, Vegas works just great with 24F, 25F, 30F.

Do I need Vegas 7? (I'm currently using Vegas 5). And am I using 24P normal (2:3 pulldown settings)?

25f workflow: which NLE?

Sorry if this was already discussed, but I only just joined this forum: do Vegas or Premiere support the Canon A1's 25f mode, and what is the recommended workflow? I've just captured my first material in 25f, but what template I should be using? In Vegas or Premiere, there's no a 1080/25p template that Edius offers - will I have to get Cineform?

Michael, I have Vegas 7.0d, and there's no 1080/25p template!

Piotr just download an update for Premiere Pro 2.0 and you are good to go.

Thanks Kuba! This fixes my problem with Premiere, but how about Vegas? Somebody o this board laims it supports 25f as well - perhaps he meant with Cineform plug-in?

Speaking of Aspect: I have my trial period over, and even though I uninstalled the software, Adobe still displays the message from Cineform that my trial is over and I should buy the key. Which I won't, because my Core 2 Quad is fast enough with raw m2ts. How to get rif of it? [sorry for OT]

Piotr -- please post that question in our CineForm forum, I'm sure you'll get an answer there.
