25p vs 24p vs 24f
What is the difference between Sony's V1 25p mode, and Canon's G1/A1 24f? I assume the Sony sensors are not truly progressive, so the 25p is just a software trick, like the 24f - but how do they differ?

It's really better not to assume anything, and to wait until more information is known about the new Sony camcorders.

Speaking of 24F...I'm not clear on how it gets captured into FCP. Does it come in as 24 frames with pulldown removed (like you can do with "advanced" 24p) or what? My interest in 24p is to have 24 actual frames per second in order to save data space on some downstream work.

Well right now it doesn't get captured to FCP at all... but there's an FCP update "coming soon" that will enable 24P capture in HDV (to include Canon's 24F, as there's no difference in how it's captured).

True, but the upcoming FCP update (allegedly next month) is close enough so I'm sorta assuming it will do it by the time the camera is out. What I meant to ask was, is there a 24f "normal" and a 24f "advanced" mode as on the XL2? My question would apply to the H1 as well.
