No new video camera from Canon?

I don't see anything about any announcements from Canon yet for a replacement of the GL series camcorders. So is that it for this year, and we can pretty much write off Canon as a serious contender for the HD era?

If the rebate expires this summer, then that indicates to me when we'll see the GL's HD successor.
Something struck me, is there even a DV Expo East this summer?
It seems like there's only going to be a Western conference one this year.
Weird.
Maybe Canon will have another one of their own conventions to announce the camera. They did that with the XLH1 right.

I gotta say, this has been going on way too long. The more time passes the less I care.

Well....

Well I'll just point my money somewhere else. I am currently in the market to upgrade from my Gl2 to a new HD camera. So Canon doesn't care about little ol'e me? Oh well, hehe.

Has been stated over and over and over on this board that Canon does not introduce new cameras at NAB.

However, there is a forthcoming 20X manual lens coming for the XLH1. They are also showing a prototype WA lens for the XLH1 that will have manual iris control. Pics and video clips should be available in a few hours.
