XH-A1: output letterbox signal to 4:3 field monitor at DVinfo.net

I see other unresolved posts from years ago related to this issue, so I wanted to see if anyone has found a solution to this problem...

I have an XH-A1 that I would like to monitor live on a 4:3 Sony Trinitron, while recording HD. I can't get a letterbox signal out, either from the V2 out or the BNC. While in the VTR menu, changing "LETTERBOX" to "YES" allows me to playback to the same monitor in letterbox, but I need live output as I'm rolling. Is this a camera limitation?
