XHA1 sharper than XHA!s

i was playing around with the settings on the XHA1s earlier today and I became very frustrated with the image that I was getting in both low light and sunlight. When I plugged my XHA1 up to see if I would get the same results with the same settings, I was surprised to find that I did not. The XHA1 was significantly sharper. Is this typical of the two cameras?

Re: XHA1 sharper than XHA!s

That's a tough question. For a while I had both camera and for whatever reason I liked the A1 better than the A1s. I do not remember seeing a difference in picture quality but do remember the auto-focus did not seem as good on the A1s.

Maybe your A1s has a lens that is not up to par? I guess, just bad luck in getting a camera with sub par glass? That is all I can think of.

Sorry to hear.

To my understanding you should get the same image from both cameras, as the update was only features...such as audio capabilities and servo control.

Pay close attention to focus distance and gain setting. Check your custom settings. Clean the heads if due.

Re: XHA1 sharper than XHA!s

My A1 and A1s both deliver the same picture quality and focus, if the cams have exactly the same settings and custom presets. I'd triple check all those carefully, including all the presets settings.

Someone here loaded them manually and messed up a few.

Cheers.

Re: XHA1 sharper than XHA!s

Agree with above post. The cameras should produce very similar images. There are a lot of settings (presets, etc.) that can cause changes to image sharpness, color balance, contrast, brightness, gamma, shadow detail, apparent noise levels, etc. Check to be sure they are matching. At the out-of-the-box default settings most folks find the image to be rather bland (although "neutral" might be a better description).
