XH-A1 and HV40 Footage Issues... (help.)
Not sure how to search for this answer... because I'm not sure what's at the heart of the issue...
I recently filmed a wedding with an XH-A1 at 24fps SD 16:9. My second hand-held was an HV40 (apparently and mistakenly set to 30fps, 16:9, SD). Dumped all footage into FCP, let the software set up my sequence settings, edited together a 90 minute DVD keepsake and burned it to DVD via DVDSP (all software is FCP Suite 7.0). Issue is: the footage captured from my XH (24fps) looks as tho it's lost resolution compared to the HV's footage. Question: I've modified my sequence settings to and am re-rendering the video (2 hour processing time) to see if that'll fix things. Or should I be removing pull-down before again sending it to DVDSP? Can someone hit me upside the head? Please? |

I'm not a FCP but more of a Premiere Pro user. With that said, I would convert the footage to an intermediate (in your case ProRes). As part of this I would re-sample the 24fps footage to match the other footage or vice versa (which ever your final output will be). This way, when you cut it together FCP is dealing with one FPS setting.
