BBC custom preset
First saw mention of the BBC custom preset here:
BBC - R&D - Publications - WHP034 - Addendum 22 BBC were "partly attempting to get a good “filmlook”,and the settings reflect that. However, because of the lack of internal test signals, and as a result of some of the initial measurements, that approach was quickly abandoned and efforts were directed at getting a decent colorimetric performance from the camera. Assuming that a grading operation will be used in postproduction, the settings attempt to give the colourist a reasonable exposure range, but this is inevitably wellshort of what a film stock could be expected to deliver. I keep this one on my camera, but only use it when shooting event footage that the BBC might want to use (flooding and other weather footage and news events that I can cover).
I find it a bit bland, but as the white paper says, it's meant to be neutral to allow for tweaking in post. |

I watched this when it first came out and now watching it again it is even more useful. Does anyone have an active link that has all the presets zipped up?

I always use the BBC preset and then add a little bit of colour correction. Here's an example, plenty more on Vimeo.

Alan Roberts' (BBC) settings documents for many others cameras too, can be found here.
For those of you who don't know, Alan is a recently retired BBC HD expert, and now a world-renowned consultant on all things to do with HD video.
