Is the Canon XHA1 compatible with the AG-HPG20?
Hi guys
Am pretty amazed by this P2 device Review: Panasonic's AG-HPG20 Portable Recorder but was wondering if any of you know whether it can be used with an XHA1? If so, wouldn't the image quality be much higher than the HDV MiniDV tapes the XHA1 uses? Would I be able to achieve a broadcast quality image via my meagre XHA1? It would be so cool if I could! From what I've read so far the XHA1 has a IEEE 1394 terminal and the AG-HPG20 appears to be able to work with a IEEE 1394 terminal. All the best Peter Update: I've emailed Panasonic and will post my findings in this thread once I hear back from them. In the meantime, any thoughts really appreciated :o) |

The AG-HPG20 will not work with the Canon XH-A1 according to Panasonic.
The inputs to the HPG20 are IEEE1394 (Firewire) or SDI. The IEEE1394 standard is format specific and will not accept the HDV standard from the XHA1. SDI is non format specific but it's not available on the A1. :o( The XHG1 is compatible though! |
