canon xh a1 - shot in 24f mode when captured its 29 frames second

canon xh a1 - why is a tape i shot in 24f mode showing up as 29 frames per second and playing faster? how can i fix it.

How did you setup the project file? You must tell it which frame rate you are using or pick the appropriate template: i.e HDV 1080 30fps 60i.

I don't think you can change the frame rate once set up. You probably should start a new project at the correct frame rate and import the clips already captured from you hard drive and see if that works.

given the quirkiness of some NLEs, your best bet is to just start fresh. Set up a project using the DV24p preset and capture to that timeline. If you shot in HDV, then you need to download the proper preset from Adobe.

Double check your sequence settings. You should always make sure that your NLE sequence settings match the format your footage is in. For instance, if you shot footage at 60i and your sequence settings are set for 24p, it'll look wonky when you drag it onto the timeline.

Also, if you set it to downconvert thru the camera and capture to SD, all frame rates are outputted as 29.97.
