Possible to display ONLY recording icon on screen?

Is it possible to set the display to show the recording (red/green? icon on the screen and nothing else?

When pushing the display button, one gets the two display settings, then the totally clear screen setting.

However, I would like to have a clear screen, _except_ for the recording icon. Is this possible?

If not, is there some other indication that the camera is recording that the operator can see. (The red light on the front of the camera can't be seen by the operator under normal operation.)

Me too!!! I want to know how.
When I shoot, I like to concentrate only on framing, once I set the exposure, audio, etc. Just push Record and be assured that it IS recording.
My last shoot was an interview with a musician, hand held and with slight camera motion added for variety of background perspective. 20 minutes into the interview I pushed the display button and realized I was not running tape. ...oooops!
Fortunately, the interview went much better on the second run through.

Yes- quite easily. Go into "custom display" and turn off EVERYTHING except for your REC Indicator. Once that's done to view your screen this way simply hit the "display" button.

Personally I have the exposure meter, F-Stop, Shutter, and Audio bars for my custom display. It offers the most important data with minimal screen clutter.

OT. One thing I've found useful was to change the A1 zoom indication display to a numerical readout.

With this, now I can zoom to a set number for the correct framing for when the race car comes around the bend etc.

Cheers.
