XHA1 and 5D MkII
Hi.
Anyone tried to match the A1 with the 5D? Any custom preset out there? Thanks. L.R. |

I don't have the answer, but a bump for a great question.

I find Vivid RGB is the closest without tweaking presets too much.
I'm using Neoscene to convert all 5D footage to 29.97fps. I shoot everything on my Xh-A1 at 30f witch is actually 29.97fps as well. Put it all together on a 29.97fps timeline in Premiere CS3 and you are good to go. Looks awesome!

Is it possible to apply this preset on the Canon 5D Mark II DSRL? I've just seen a wonderful video on Vimeo that was shot using these parameters and I was wondering if I could do the same on the 5D.
Here's the video: Monday - HD on Vimeo Here are the parameters: Gamma: Cine1 Color Matrix: Normal Color Gain: 25 (This is about the limit. Adding more color does very little to enhancing chroma and does a lot for introducing unwanted noise) Color Phase: 0 Knee: Low Black: Middle Master Ped: -5 Setup Level: 0 HDF: Mid H/V Detail: 0 Sharpness: 0 NR1: Off NR2: Off Coring: 0 Red Gain: -2 Green Gain: -2 Blue Gain: -3 RG Matrix: 0 RB Matrix: 0 GR Matrix: 0 GB Matrix: 10 BR Matrix: 0 BG Matrix: -13 |

Luis,
I did some tests are while back for this: NaturalO (from the preset stickies here on DVinfo) on the XHA-1 and Standard setting on the 5D2 work closely together. Fix the white balance on both to daylight (you are best to do this on the 5D2 anyway - the AWB setting will give mixed to nasty results). Any fine tuning can be done in post. For footage, convert both to ProRes LT and mix them there. Nick. Very important: set the 5D2 to shoot in sRGB, not Adobe RGB or you will have big problems with colour
